Talk About Daily Life in English

Real phrases for real conversations about everyday life, learned naturally through a relaxed chat between Kiora and Ethan.

The lesson

Talking about everyday activities

Daily life is full of small, useful topics: work, food, chores, free time and friends. Use the present simple for habits and like plus the -ing form for preferences. I work from home. I do the dishes after dinner. I like cooking on the weekend.

Chores and errands

Learn the common phrases for tasks at home: do the dishes, do the laundry, clean the house, take out the trash. For things you do outside, use run errands: I run errands on Saturday, like going to the bank and the supermarket.

Free time and weekends

Talk about fun and rest with simple phrases: In my free time I relax and watch a film. On the weekend I hang out with friends. Use I usually... to describe what is normal for you: I usually meet my friends on Sunday.

Tip: weekday vs weekend

Notice the difference between a weekday (Monday to Friday, usually for work) and the weekend (Saturday and Sunday, usually for rest). On weekdays I am busy, but on the weekend I take it easy.
